ADDRESSING THE IMPACTS OF SPILLAGE OF THE BAGRE DAM IN THE WHITE
VOLTA RIVER BASIN IN GHANA
Government wishes to assure the public that it is committed and is working on short and long
term measures to mitigate the impacts of the perennial floods in the White Volta Basin (covers a
good 20% of Ghana’s total land area). This is caused by the spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina
Faso and the heavy rainfall both in Ghana and Burkina Faso.
